Many years ago after a great deluge, gods lived in Mt. Macolot. Most precious to them was a special liquor whose method of extraction was kept hidden from men. In nearby mountain, there was a ruler named Rajo who cared about his people, being strong, wise and occasionally tyrannical. He wanted to live forever to serve his people and decided to spy on the gods to get the secret of immortality. he went to the kingdom of the gods, hid behind a rock and saw that they fermented a kind of nectar that gave them immortality. He returned to his home, made the nectar himself and gave it to his people. soon they all became youthful and invigorated. the gods asked the 'night watchman' (the moon) who it was that stole the recipe of the nectar and told the gods it was Rajo.

Rajo pursued the moon in rage and swallowed it up, but the moon would always be able to escape. when Rajo overtakes the moon, this is the lunar eclipse.
